I batted against Phil”The Vulture” Regan, and I got a base hit. When I went out to play my position in left field, Ron Cey, who played third base for the Cubs, was warming up in foul territory, and he motioned for me to come over to him. He said to me,” Let me give you some advice. When you get to your position, the guys in the left field seats will try to get your attention. Whatever you do, do not talk to them. Do not acknowledge them. If you do, they will never leave you alone, and it will be almost impossible for you to concentrate and play the game.” I took his advice, and I was fine.
