1886 Old Hoss Radbourn, Boston Beaneaters The 1886 Boston Beaneaters in the National League. Their best player was Old Hoss Radbourn, who went 60-12 two years earlier, still the most wins by a pitcher in a single season. Old Hoss is standing on the left end. Notice his resemblance to Marty Cohen, who is standing in the same position on our 1980 team. Also notice Old Hoss’ left hand, resting on the shoulder of the player seated in front of him. This is the oldest known photograph of a professional sports figure making this indelicate gesture.
