In 1930, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig made a barnstorming trip to Lindenhurst, Long Island, to play in a game with teams of local amateur players. On a field with no fences, Ruth hit a ball far over the right fielder’s head, but got tired from running and stopped at third base. Gehrig drove him in with a single.
